Track Crew Update June 2018
Craters Mountain Bike Park
We are starting stage 3 of the Waipouwerawera track this week. This will add about another 800 meters to the track and bring it out at BBC - watch this space. The track proved to be a winner in Craters Classic with riders loving it.
The new Inwards Goods track has been started to align with the new underpass. This will be a very easy grade (about 3%) to enable riders to get an easy warm up spin into Tourist Trap. We are also going to have a link track around to the Craters Road for those who want to bypass Tourist Trap and the car park.
Part of this new system will also consist of a new express / link track to come back from the bridge which goes over Q line Road to the new underpass. This will require joining up a few tracks and building a traverse from Return to Sender to the underpass.
Huka Trails
We have been chipping away on Junk & Disorderly just to make it a bit more user friendly with a few passing bays. We also intend to fix that one shirty corner in the oak trees.
We have half the funding for the new ladder bridge. Once in, it will mean we can get the diggers across the bridge to ease out the steep corner under the big pine tree.
Great Lake Trail
Is in great order apart from the Orakau - Kawakawa Bay section being a bit overgrown - this will be attended to shortly.
W2K has some beautiful riding at the moment after the digger went through over the summer.
Ride of the Month
Steam fields Loop and then up Retro to Luge - awesome !!.
Everybody has forgotten it's still there.
