MINUTES OF MEETING

CONFIRMATION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES:  Committee agreed that minutes of 1 June 2005 were a true and correct record.  Accepted by Gerry/Pete

 

MATTERS ARISING:

1.       Email Newsletter  done 

2.       Sponsors and supporters logos to Thomas - ongoing 

3.       Maintenance Report  to Council - ongoing  

4.       DLT follow-up    - Gerry followed up with Scott Lee.  Nothing to report so far.  Should have some idea on DLT’s actions next month.

3.       13 July 2005 - Tongariro Conservation Board - re draft management plan for Tongariro National Park and General Policy for National Parks.

6.       15 July 2005 - Le Quesne - thank you for arranging for pipe from Humes.

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT:

Pete advised that the working B’s are attracting awesome numbers with 50 to the last one which finalised clearing the tunnel under the highway.  Rotary Ride is being changed and improved at a rapid pace thanks to a few voluntary hard workers.  Someone has asked if they can make some changes to Col’s Killer and they’ve been put onto the Track Crew.  There’s tonnes of enthusiasm out there and its growing.

 

TREASURERS REPORT: Account Balance $9,555.05 (not including outstanding/new accounts and monies to be banked). Kinloch Track account $1,640.00.

Fundraising re Ground Effect gear $1,800.00 with $250.50 to come.

SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

Media and Promotion:

1.       Ground Effect Grinder opening went well 

2.       Still considering a 1000 member promotion - involve Taupo Times. Lisa to approach Ross at Corner Shop re perhaps a free bike service as part of it.  

 

Website/Membership:

1.       Website is working excellently and looks great.  Really interactive - good pictures etc 

2.       Hits show big numbers are visiting the site. 

3.       Thomas is archiving the news regularly. 

 

TDC Cycle Strategy Team

1.       The draft Cycling and Walking document will go public on 27 September.  Horses are excluded from strategy document.

2.       A levels of service pamphlet has been sent out with a questionnaire on recreation paths and whether the current services are ok.  A majority has come back saying ‘yes more money needs to be spent on these areas’.

 

Submissions:

1.       Tongariro Conservation - resubmit on 12 September 2005 

2.       Eastern Arterial Route - section near golf course  there will be no room to put 2 tracks so there’ll be a section where all road users will have to share the wide shoulder. The land that will be used for the recreational path adjacent to the arterial will become Council reserve.  Comment for the biking under the arterial route in the Centennial Drive and Broadlands Road areas can be made on 27 September when the cycling and walking strategy document goes to public consultation. 

 

Funding:

1.       Invoice for $11,000 has been sent to TDC regarding the agreement with them for track maintenance.

2.       Taupo Mountain Bike Club agreement with Bike Taupo states that they will give us 40% of any race profit on the 25 days a year they can race at Wairakei.

3.       Its hopeful that Rotary might be keen to fund one of our suggested projects.  Should hear about this shortly. 

 

Maintenance:

1.       Pete McFarlane has been employed to fix the Rotary Ride downhill extension

2.       John Taylor is chipping away at the Ladder Bridge extension.

3.       The Owen Delaney area’s new extension is working and well maintained. 

4.       The new entry to Rotary Ride is great but people are still using the old way.  Look at putting boulders over old part.
