Bike Taupo AGM
A usual, we need to elect a new committee and chairperson for the year, give you a brief run-down of what BikeTaupo has done for cycling in Taupo over the last year and what we are working on at the moment.
There are also some important changes needed to our constitution, relating to the Lake Track project. We will email out another reminder with details 2 weeks prior.
When: Tuesday 30th November 2010 @ 7.30pm (Tuesday)
Venue: Scenic Sellers (upstairs) 32 Roberts Street, Taupo.
Road Cycling
Taupo Cycling Club AGM
When: Monday 8 November 2010 @ 6.30pm
Venue: Scenic Sellers (upstairs) 32 Roberts Street, Taupo.
Refreshments and guest speaker will follow the meeting.
Trainer Wheels
Are you keen to cycle around the Lake, never done it before, give it a go and trainer wheels is here to help.
If your keen to do trainer wheels programme and do not have a bike - bikes available at sport waikato to borrow for $20 for 6 weeks to get started contact Aniek 021 827642.
Sunday Morning social rides
These rides leave from outside Farmers, Tuwharetoa Street, next to McDonalds drive-thru at 8am
There are 2 groups available now, a social group wishing to ride at a more leisurely pace with average speed aroud 20-25kmph, distance starting from 40 km but building up for Round the Lake distances. The second group is a bit faster with an average speed between 25-30kmph and distances of 70 - 100+km. The rides area great way to experience the beauty of our district, and it's always more fun riding in a group. These rides are social pedal, not a race, which gives cyclists an opportunity to gather for a pleasant Sunday morning ride, Both rides are designed to finish at approx 10.30 at Full of beans cafe, Suncourt, tamamutu Street for coffee.
Spring to Summer Series - 10 weeks
every Tuesday evening @ from 5.45pm.
Registration at 5.45pm, Taupo Motorsport Park, entrance off Quarry Rd, vehicle parking is behind the buidings on the left please.
This is a graded event. Caters for all levels of ability. Racing will commence Fine or Wet Weather.
Taupo Velodrome
Situated in Owen Delany Park, Centennial Drive Taupo. Taupo Cycling Club runs social track racing every Wednesday evening, 6.00pm at the Velodrome. The evening caters for age groups from 12yrs & above. This evening provides fun activities & novelty races
The night usually provides plenty of exercise & fun. Please bring your own pedals, shoes and of course helmet
Club track bikes are available for newbies! (Club membership required)

Tuesday evenings meet at 6pm - all welcome
Come give BMX a go – BMX bikes and helmets can be hired at the track. (Minimal rate)

Mid North Island Cup 2010- 2nd round
The 6th annual Mid-North Island Cup (M-NIC), to be held over November-December, 2010 at the popular Central North Island mountain bike destinations of Tokoroa, Taupo, Rotorua & Hawkes Bay.
A low-key cross-country series ideal for competitors new to the sport, or new to competition, thru to those in training for the MTBNZ National Series or further international competition.
Each round is run independently by the local host club, consisting of either multi-lap or single loop races. Competitors either pre-enter or enter on-the-day at each event separately, with the three (3) best round results counted for final overall series points.
To be eligible for the series, competitors must start the final (in Napier).
Trophies are awarded to 1st place, medals to 2nd & 3rd in each category at the finals prize-giving.
Jump track
It is a work of art if you haven't seen it , check it out - punga trails along side Tourist Trap from craters car park entrance. PLEASE read the signs and if you do not knowhow to ride BIG jumps PLEASE do not learn here - catch up with Jo Simpson and he will point you in the right direction - Phone 07 376 5216.

Events
Bike Trails Nationals and Training
This year as part of the Taupo Cycle Challenge we will be having The NZ National Trial, and a training camp with world No. 3 Rider Rick Koekoek from The Netherlands!
Training is on the 25th and 26th of November, and the Nationals are on the 27th, all ability levels welcome.
