Sunday Cycle Ride

9am. Leaving from the Taupo Event Center car-park. Caters for all abilities from beginners to Olympic athletes. No one gets left behind, is friendly & Coffee afterwards

Sunday Morning social rides

These rides leave from outside Farmers, Tuwharetoa Street (Next to McDonalds drivethru) Taupo in winter 9am from the 6th of June 2010. The rides vary in distance & terrain throughout the year, but usually around 60km-80km, average speed between 25-28km per hr

Club racing

every Tuesday evening @ 6.00pm.

Meet @ Taupo Car Club racetrack, at the new start /finish line 6.00pm. (entry off Quarry Rd, Main Entrance)This is a graded event. Caters for all levels of ability.

Racing will commence Fine or Wet Weather. Lights front and rear required for winter.

Taupo Velodrome

Situated in Owen Delany Park, Centennial Drive Taupo

(Track Lighting on Monday/Wednesday/Thursday evenings)

Taupo Cycling Club runs social track racing every Wednesday evening, 6.00pm at the Velodrome. The evening caters for age groups from 12yrs & above. This evening provides fun activities & novelty races

The night usually provides plenty of exercise & fun. Please bring your own pedals, shoes and of course helmet

Club track bikes are available for newbies! (Club membership required)

BMX

Club ride

Racing starts @10am on Saturdays

Come give BMX a go – BMX bikes and helmets can be hired at the track. (Minimal rate)

Taupo Mountain Bike Club

Pack & Pedal Winter Night Series

Started Thursday29th July for 6 weeks.

  • Thursday Nights at Craters of the Moon
  • Registration from 5:30pm
  • Race start 6:00pm
  • $5.00 non members, free for members.

Course for first 2 weeks:

Car park > LHL1 > Tank Stand > Outback (first part to Slalom) > Slalom > Walter's Wiggle > LHL 2 > Squirt (first half to Q Line Rd) > Left onto Q Line Rd > Left onto Powerline Rd > Right into Last part of Tourist Trap > Car park.

Hendon from Pak & Pedal will be providing spot prizes for the event and as an added incentive is going to raffle off a Nightlight 900 lumin RRP $249 at the end of the 6 week series. To be in contention you must attend all 6 races.

New Zealand Bicycle Registry

The New Zealand Bicycle Registry is a free service for storing vital information about your bike - most importantly your bike frame serial number. In the event of your bike being stolen you can notify the Registry so the Police, and others, can search for your bike if they recover it - anywhere in New Zealand.

King & Queen of the Crank

All you multi-talented Roady slash MTB ‘ers, this is the race for you!!

Taupo Mountainbike Club and Taupo Cycling Club have joined forces to create an all new and exiting race to keep everyone enthused over winter.

Inpiduals or teams welcome, this will be a road race circuit, followed by a mountainbike circuit (distances and courses to be confirmed), but both will start and finish from the saleyards, which will double as race HQ.

Brief outline below, some details are to be finalised, so keep checking for updates…

  • Venue-Start/Finish HQ: Saleyards off Poihipi Rd end
  • Registration: 9 am, Race Briefing: 9.30am

Jamis Bicyles – Day-night Thriller

Don’t miss this unique, exhilarating Mountain Bike Relay event held in Taupo. Two event options , 12 hours or 6 hours for teams of 2/3 and 4/ 5 riders & solos. Both events compete on the same 8km, 30 minute circuit. One team member on the course at any one time. The largest mountain bike event of it's kind in the world.
