SeptemberTrack Crew News

The jig-saw is starting to come together

The lake track is about to start any day now just getting some jobs done around the place and waiting on the final paper work. Its going to take a few years to build but will be opened in sections so watch the web site for details

For those that have been crossing there legs Toilets for the car park are coming thanks to Shorty and the wise people at LINZ's great to have people who want to work with the community. I know this is boring to some riders but this is way overdue with the number of visitors we are getting to the track system.

The Rotary Ride bridge will be in soon Its been built and just getting painted at present before being flown into place

Thanks to the Mountain Bike club who found some dollars and have paid for a new realigment around the storm damaged area on Cork Screw. The same track fairies have also been running working bees fixing up Lunge and also rebuilding Squint around that same damaged area I think this was the last job after we got smashed by the storm

The Mad Engineers have been at it again and have got the first section of Junk & Disorderly open, Its pure single track heaven Just bike around to the scenic lookout from Kev's track (New exit) and follow your noise into the hole in the bush It will pop you out the other end heading for Helistar The aim is to have another link to Helistar without having to drop down to Huka Falls

Thanks to all those that helped Marshal the Day Nighter Have to say it was one of the quieter days Marshaling we have ever had. Just the odd person flying into the scrub Track was great but the dust was a pain in the ass

And lastly a big thank you to the Half Marathon committee for running the Off Road Half which helps fund the maintenance on W2K. With out your help it would be much harder to keep the track in the condition that we do. Hope to have the crew working on the Kinloch side next week giving it a birthday up to the bluffs
