Update on Huka from Track Crew

Update on Huka from Track Crew

This years tracks are all up and running with just the last creation from the skunk works being build half way down the Control gate hill.

General feeling is its going to be harder but people should be spread out more, so it should be more enjoyable.

Few tips from the skunk works:

  1. Don't bust your ass too early. If you get to the the hub cafe and are not as sharp as a tac, then you are about to have a long day in the office.
  2. Some of the most techy single  tracks are at about the 65 km mark, so be on game, this is where the hard work starts
  3. For the Huka and Cruiser Class: TeTotara Gully and J&D are very techy single tracks with little or  no passing -  make sure you are running in a group of the same speed
  4. At the start of TeTotara gully you will bike over a small boardwalk beside a waterfall. Just after this is a very short but steep hill which is bloody hard to ride up (if you do it you are a legend). Its faster to run it !
  5. Half way down the Control gates hill you will be turning hard left into a gully which will have a new down hill single track Watch out for the left hand turn, if you are going too fast its going to get messy.
  6. Be nice to the mashals and thank them its a bloody long hard day for them as well

State Of The Nation Track Update

State Of The Nation Track Update

After a few months of both man and nature's destruction we have got a lot of the tracks up and running again with just the last three big ones in our sights to do the final link up in Craters.

We expect to begin rebuilding both Tank Stand and Walters in about a week just waiting for the final few logs to be pulled out.

Open Tracks

Here is a quick list of the damaged tracks that are now open again:

  • Rotary Ride and Day Nighter extension
  • Te Totara Gully Boys will be rebuilding the entry this week all the rest is open
  • Tourist Trap All finished the new track is a winner
  • Inwards and all the other post codes all open
  • The New BBC track up and running and riding better every week

Thanks to the Mad Engineers, Monday Night elves ( Blokes are not fairies ) Beagle Boys and the Bike Taupo Track Crew and the many others who got off their arses and ripped into getting the tracks up and running.

Out of the destruction have come great new tracks!
