Track Update

Just a quick update on the tracks

On the positive side You can now drive to the car park so thats a plus.

The boys have opened up the return track on Lake Hire link so you can return via Walters from the Connection area

Pete Manning rode around checking the further away tracks and apart from the odd trees down on the Mrs and also at the bottom of Young Pines it seems OK to ride. Use the Stage left track on Young Pines to get out of Yong Pines at this stage

The planning is to try and get the Rotary Ride/ Redwoods / Tunnel open as soon as possible We are planning to mark a route to get to Debs from the Car Park so ride up Q Line road past Craters to get to Deb's to get into the systerm

On the Negative side

Cork Screw / Parts of Tourist Trap and the Tank Stand areas are stuffed and will be logged in some form There is alot of damage to the Bumble Bee again plus the cafe track coming up from Huka Falls is busted .

These areas will be closed until the logging is complete and we will then rebuild the tracks its a waste of time and money to go in and try and open them up again its just to much damage.

If you want to help in some way flick us a email or ring 0274 977 832 and I can point you in the right direction

Need some reports on the Whakaipo Bay side of W2K please if some one wants to go for a ride

Please NOTE TANK STAND AND COASTER ARE CLOSED AND HAVE MANY HUNG UP TREES STAY OUT OF THAT AREA

Owen Delany Park

Logging in Owen Delany Park

As a result of recent wind damage, Taupo District Council is engaging contractors to remove fallen, broken and standing timber from the forestry woodlots around Owen Delany Park. Logging is expected to commence on 14 May 2012 and to continue until the end of June. Logging operations will occur from Monday to Friday during this period, and are scheduled to finish by 3.30pm on each working day. Heavy machinery will be used, and logging trucks may be encountered within the park and on the new road to the SPCA and Pound.

For safety reasons, the public are advised to avoid all woodlot areas in Owen Delany Park, particularly while logging operations are in progress, and to have regard to all on-site warnings. Tracks connecting the Rotary Ride track and Spa Hotel grounds with Owen Delany Park will be closed during this period. All other facilities and sports fields will be open for normal use.

What up Whats down

What up Whats down

Now that what can be opened has been, here is the list of tracks that are closed for the time being until we get some idea on what is happening with the logging:

  • All tracks leading in and out of Tourist Trap including Tourist Trap and Ferret
  • Bubble Bee
  • Cork Screw and all those tracks in that area
  • Tank Stand and Coaster (Both have many hang ups stay out please )

We will look at getting the back part of Tourist Trap and Kegresse Return to Sender Ferret etc open as soon as we have the logging plan

All the tracks are open out the back, Outback, Young Pines, Deb's, Mr & Mrs access using two way on Walters To get to the grinder go up Incline and bomb down the Buzzard

Bruce is aiming to get the last fallen trees today

The only track closed on the River side of the Highway is Totara Gut ( Bridge is gone plus trees down ) all the others are open including a new bit of track from J&D to Kev's track.

To all those people that helped with the clean up thank you very much No way it could have been done with out your help

Track of the month:
