Congratulations VETPlus and the Kinloch Store

Congratulations to two of our Partners, VETPlus and the Kinloch Store who recently won awards at the BNZ Great Lake Taupō Awards 2013. VETPlus excelled themselves by not only winning  the Best Professional Service section but also taking the supreme Overall Business of the Year award. The Kinloch Store, located between our W2K and K2K sections of the Great Lake Trail  won the Best Hospitality Business award. Another of our partners, BNZ hosted the event. All three businesses are great supporters of  Bike Taupō and we are  proud to be associated with them. Well done!

Bike Taupo Econonomic Impact Report.

495918

Recently Bike Taupo, the Department of Conservation, Destination Great Lake Taupo, Taupo District Council and the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge commissioned a study to find out how much cycling and cycling events brings to Taupo District. This report is now finished and can be accessed here. Cycling is worth 10 million a year to the local economy and is responsible for 74 jobs. Not an insignificant figure and after reading the report we believe that this is a conservative figure. Whilst it is pretty accurate for events, with more information (where they are from, how long they stay etc) about those who visit to ride our trails this figure will probably rise. A good base line report that shows how valuable cycling is to the Taupo District.
