Bike Taupō asked all Taupō District Council Mayoral and Council candidates the following two questions:
Question 1:
If elected, what will be your commitment and actions to ensure that Taupō maintains its status as a world class cycling destination and is a safe place for its community and visitors to ride bikes?
Question 2:
TDC has made a commitment to review the current outdated cycling strategy this financial year, will you support this commitment? If so what do you think the objective of this strategy should be?

There will be a pruning crew will be working in the Deb’s track area for the next month or so.  The track will stay open but just be aware the guys might be along the track with ladders.

Logging at car park end of Tourist Trap

Logging at car park end of Tourist Trap

Logging is starting in the first part Tourist Trap from Wednesday (26th) morning. It involves a small section of bigger trees around the start, and up to the start of Piker.

Tracks closed will be:

Inwards goods
Piker
Return to sender
Parts of Tourist Trap
Kids Track
Punga Trails

We will be rebuilding as soon as crew are finished. Please stay away from area let the crew get on with their job.

Track Update

Track Update
There is a tree down on the W2K track 2 kms up on the Whakaipo Bay side. It will be two or three days before we get there so beware.
Thanks to the riders who have reported trees down. Walters and Slalom are all clear now.
