Forest Operations

Some time in the next two to three weeks a spray operation will be taking place in Wairakei around the old paint ball area and also in the area of the day Nighter track next to the Rotary Ride. This is part of a forestry operation to replant the trees and will take place early in the morning when the weather conditions allow

If the operation is taking place please stay away from the area. Effected tracks will be closed for a short time.

Wairakei Possum Trapping

Monday July 18 – Friday July 22

Central Trappers Ltd will be setting leg hold traps in random locations in and around Craters MTB Park – Wairakei Forest.
Anyone taking DOGS OR CHILDREN into this area:

  • Children - please keep in sight at all times, do not allow them to wander off the tracks.
  • Dogs - please kept dog on lease or keep in sight and on tracks the at all times.

During daylight hours there maybe quads on a few of the MTB tracks.
NB: Traps will not be on the tracks but may be close to them.

Q Line Road access

Q Line Road Access is NOW CLOSED due to the logging starting. This includes riding SH Fun due to the skid site sitting on top off the track.

DO not enter or try and to ride out on Q line road Please just stay out of the area

Access to the Out Back etc is, the marked track from the carpark using Walters as a two way track

Track Closures

The new Huka Falls Bypass at the end of the Rotary Ride is closed due to a slip! The track crew will be out there fixing it or opening up the exit to the walking track again temporary.
