On the Road Skills

According to legend, Jack Kerouac wrote his seminal road trip novel 'On the Road' in just three weeks, on a continuous 36 metre scroll of paper that he cut to size and taped together. We can now reveal that literary scholar and eBay shopper Ernie has discovered a previously unpublished manuscript of the sequel 'On the Road Skills' where Kerouac applied his caffeine-addled brain to the art and science of navigating the concrete jungle on two wheels.

Clover Challenge

The Taupo Mountain Bike Club’s Clover Points Race had a chaotic start with 51 riders in all directions heading to the circuit of choice. Some riders had done some home work and found which circuits were faster and worth more points than others, while others played it by ear.

The Clover Points races was a welcome change from the usual follow-the-leader format, and maximised the use of great tracks in the Wairakei Forest, all close to the carpark. It was a fun event, but with some serious and close racing going on within the categories.

THANK YOU to Contact Energy

A big THANK YOU to Contact Energy staff for realigning the uphill section of the Rotary Ride opposite Huka Lodge - no more trees to duck under and less heavy breathing required to get to the top. Cheers guys a wicked job.
